In pure math terms you are correct. There are 1024 different world states.
But I only have to implement 20 different changes to match that number.
As in every choice in game 1 only needs 2 effects in game 2.

If every choice in game 1 affected every other choice then yes it would be monstrous as I would need 1024 changes. That is not the case.

Regarding the size of the changes. Now we are going into spoiler areas. The brave beware and see spoiler below.

Your idea about changes for the characters being life changing is correct.
Your idea that it might be important for the setting of game 2 migth not be.

I am just worried your going to take more work on your hands then you can handle.

All will be well.
I have planned everything out. I know the amount of content I need to create for each game.
Game 2 will be around 10% bigger then game 1. Some of that is an extra main character and some of that is the optional content from choices.
At most the choices will be a 1 or 2 weeks work and will drown out in the ocean that is the entire production.

The only unknown is how much free time life gives me.
So far we are somewhat on schedule for Game 1. I started writing in November and now 3 months later we are at 40 ish %.
It should still be out sometime this year
Followed by Game 2 and 3 with a year apart.

Edit: (Disclaimer. All this is the optimist outlook. I am sure I will get to a point somewhere along the line where I might take a months vacation. Who knows )

Ya know, I've been looking into https://www.henthighschool.com as an engine lately (game doesn't do much for me, it's a community made update to hentaihighschool, but has no original artwork, so it's a cacaphonie of layer composed avatars combined with a smorgasboard of manga, hentai and fanart images and a lot of it clashes badly, this while you seem to have taken quite a lot of care in making your images fit the situations rather well).

It would fit your projects rather well in some respects, it's entirely xml driven and has a rather nice editor.

If you don't mind, I might try my hand at replicating some of Himeros Hotel in there to see how that engine would work with that story and since the game it's made for has a whole lot more advanced inventory, stats and time management then Adrift tends to work well with, some interesting stuff might come out of it.


Ps, my last play through for which I posted my questions were done starting fresh with 0.40 and then updated with 0.40b.

Other then the bug you fixed with Gem's path triggering without actually posting the questions and overlooking that I still had images to upload (which would now be hard since you trigger a notification about that), everything seems to go rather well.

Except maybe that it seems that when I didn't upload the images, some events seemed to get desynced from the rest of the story.

EDIT: Previously I thought of making a game or porting one for training in Unity or UE (both engines I know very well), but they seem to be insane overkill for this level of games. Plus, most people are used to stuff like ADRIFT, so to reach that level of user comfort with the game engine, you'd end up doing more coding developing an engine and user supports then actually putting into the game.

I looked at different options before starting writing for the games and even started implementation in Rags before switching to Adrift.
I was looking for something that would fit my idea of how I wanted to tell the story.
I have played Hentaihighschool and similar and liked it. Very classic dating sim build up. It could work well with the setting of Himeros Hotel.

My personal choice was Adrift because I liked the slightly more text heavy approach without having to go into visual novel mode.
It gives me the option to play with different gameplay elements without being a pure dating sim or a pure rpg.

It seems it is the day of the spoiler as the next part only makes sense if talking about the trilogy. So here goes something I have mentioned before but slightly more indepth.

This game could have been implemented as a pure daring sim.
The next two games could not. So picking a platform that would support one and not the other would make it tricky to carry over players.

Without going into details.
The next games will have different gameplay styles.
Game 1 is about personal growth, stats and relations to other characters.
Game 2 and 3 have a different focus.

I think I can implement the 3 diffrent types in adrift. I had a hard time finding other platforms where I could do that. Unless I made something in Unity or similar.

Regarding you point about unsynced progress. If you find something that stands out please let me know.
I know there can be times where things seem weird when done out of order but everything should still work.

Couple of things I'm stuck on.

I did one photo shoot with Gem but I understand there should be a second.
I've searched every room (including the kitchen) I currently have unlocked and I've only found 2 rat holes (in the alley and the basement)

I spent one day visiting every single room each hour to make sure I was triggering things, so I'm guessing I'm missing dialogue options. Which is the biggest problem this game seems to have. Verbage is very specific. It might be worth adding some verbose highlighting of keywords to help out. Overall, I'm finding the puzzles interesting, but there seems to be way too much 'chance' at figuring out where/when to be somewhere to get something.

Regarding you specific block.

There are more photoshoots. Not sure I can guess what can be blocking you there. But if you add your L: number to your post I can figure it out.
There is a 3. rat hole that you should access to in the Male Showers in the basement. This can be blocked if you haven't progressed far enough with Gem. Maybe.

All blocks that require user feedback should have the required feedback explained in the introduction texts.
Example if you have to ask someone about a specific subject the event leading into that should mention the subject.
There are a lot of events that trigger on exploration and some only after doing specific things.
I am still working on balance between ease for the player and actual gameplay.

Yeah, finding the right tool is an absolute puta sometimes.

I have an idea for a game and have been exploring the tools (the idea is rather similar to HH, but with you as a building manager in a skyscraper, with stores, boutiques, offices, apartments and a hotel in that skyscraper). My inspiration comes from someone I've become friends with who actually is a building manager at a 20 something floor building over here, the crazy shit he's told me about his experiences with his tenants makes some of the games on here seem tame!

I'm an OpsDev, SysOps and DevOps and got my indepth knowledge of Unity and Unreal Engine from developing advanced interfaces (22 and 3D) for building management and home automation systems.

I wrote a huge set of libraries to connect EIB/KNX and some lesser used automation busses into both engines, which we are now exploring to commercialize.

But anyway, keep up the good work and if you ever need help, even if it is in finding images to use (I'm inhumanly good at going trough thousands of images really fast XD) PM me.

I'm enjoying your game for sure, just hope you won't run into a stone wall with some of the models you chose. Finding actual good fakes of mainstream celebs can be challenging. Especially if you would like to setup scenes for your viewers, since a whole lot of fakes are mainly single images.

Great. Sounds like a good idea for a game.

I did go through a lot of images to make sure I could tell each story before selecting the models used in the game.
(Really hard work looking at 1000s of porn images for research. Someone had to do it.)
The problems with fakes did change my planning for the next games. It is a hassle to work around but it can be worth it I feel.
The next games might not have 3 celeb models as in this game. Still at least 1 each.

Ok. Classic. Gem mentions that you can upload the pictures you have taken in your first photoshot. Using the "upload pictures" command should move you along. Gem blocks a lot of other stuff as she is the first girl.

You seem to be pretty far with Gem and Daisy. Far enough that you should have an event on the roof in the evening that should unlock more Lara stuff.

L: 1452171210824 Can't seem to get any further with any of the girls. I have been to every room I am allowed access to on every hour from 6 til 24 and nothing is triggering any kind of scene. So am I missing something?
Also on my fist play through I was asked by Zoe to take lotion to Gem on the roof, I went east and then up to the roof and it would not allow me to access roof, so i came back down, scrolled up to re-read the text and saw the "take lotion" command so i entered "take lotion" however it wouldn't allow me, even the next three days at 14:00 she kept asking me to do it and when i typed "take lotion" still wouldn't allow me to do it and so had to start over again. Luckily the next time i remembered to "take lotion" before leaving the reception area and it worked fine. Just reporting it incase nobody else has mentioned it.

Thanks for the note on that bug. It has been an issue on the past but I thought I had fixed it. I will check based on your description.
Edit: Just checked I hope this error was in an earlier version of the game as getting the request multiple times and not being able to take the lotion should no longer be possible.

Regarding hints. Lets see.

You should some options.
If you have paid for the repairs of the broken equipment in the club you should have an event there during the evening.
You should also have an event in the restaurant very early in the morning or late at night.
Last thing is another couple events with Frey. Depending on how much porn you have surfed.

The hints

1. I have not encountered any scene with regards to being able to pay for the repairs of the equipment at the club.
2. Last event I had in restaurant in early morning was encountering morgan who ran away and I have never had any event triggering at night.
3. Last event with frey was when she put cream all over herself and after encountering Morgan told me not to scare her.

So it seems I'm still a step or two behind the hints, but as I say, entering all of the rooms and locations at every hour has triggered nothing. So I am a bit confused as I have saved the game and returned back to it by "restore" several times making it difficult to retrace my steps so if I have encountered a bug of some kind I won't be able to help much in isolating where. If that is the case I apologise.
