Hi everyone,

As mentioned previously in another thread, I'm currently creating a new game, going under the working title of "The Life of Average Joe".

Everything in the game is up for discussion, including the title. The game will be extensive and will feature regular updates, somewhere between 1-2 updates a month.

I would like you all to post your ideas. It could be anything, such as ideas for the story, features, scenes, settings, models (anime too). The only thing which will remain the same is the root, hereby meaning the main character and his biography.

Quick introduction:

In the game (English), you control an "Average Joe" character, working at a big international IT company. The game will feature its own currency, profile and a save feature. While it will be point-and-click from a POV perspective, there will be consequences and the game will feature twists and turns as you progress, based on your previous decisions. It will feature many locations, one being the ability to go on vacations and so forth.

Based on the undergoing poll (thread located in the Beach forum), the game will be completely free, with the ability to contribute by donating money and clicking ads - however, it is not mandatory and will not show in the actual game.

The game will be browser based, with no ability to download the full game - atleast for the time being. I'm considering making a flash-based version of the game aswell, but as I'm not familiar with flash, I'm going to need help from someone else.

Which brings me to...

I'm looking for the following:
- Skilled programmer/coder
- Skilled flash artist
- People fluent in: French, German, Spanish

Here is a quick Promo I made. It does not depict an actual scene or character in the real game.

If you want to be a part of this upcoming game, give me a shout! =)

Sounds like a fun game but also a huge task. I love the picture. You've descibed the basic concept and I suppose there will also be locations (places at work, bars, home, etc.) and characters to interact with (other employees, your boss, customers, etc).

Since it is an IT company, what is the main character's job? Maybe he could be a cable or DSL installer or trouble shooter (now he can go to the customers' homes--please read--bored sexy house wives). Could be a great game that could always be added to, expanded, and updated. I will look forward to any screen shots.

Sounds good. Unfortunately, I'm not skilled in any of the things you need, but good luck to you!

Creepy silicones! They're able to inflate 3D characters.

Thanks.

Yes indeed, the idea is to create a realistic browser-based simulator, where you'll have to go to work if you want to make money. The money can be spent on a variety of things; i.e. drinks, items, vacations etc.

Locations will include home, work/work-related scenes, bars, clubs, supermarket, beaches, islands, forrests and so on. There are no limitations. I want to create a game based on my own and other peoples ideas, quite simply. =)

As for the main character, I've not thought of his job descrïption/position yet, but I can see him being all of those you've listed. The scenario with a housewife is entirely possible too.

The game will feature all kind of different girls/characters, as you would see in the real world. There will be cheap bimbos, spoiled-rich brats, ordinary women, natural beauties, dream models etc.

Really, to put it short. There are no limitations, and the more you give me to work with, the better.

Great!

I have little to no experience in php myself, so what's your say on the features I've mentioned, such as the use of profiles, save feature and currency/money. Can it be done in php and if so, are you capable of doing it?

I can help with Spanish translations, even though real-life prevents me to help with the coding

Hmm this sounds like a "Sim Date" game.

Check link for example http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-524.htm

Is this what you imagine it will be like or something.... different?

I know Sim Date. :)

While Sim Date is a great game, the game I'm creating will have its own identity. So my answer to your question is no. However, there are things in the game you'll have seen from in other games (such as going to work, or a bar scene), but really, that's a given considering how many games that's been made already - it doesn't make it a clone of another game.

You can take all sort of things from different games and put it in one game, and make it real in-depth - that would leave you with the type of game this will be.

I hope that explains it. :)

Tictac,
sounds exciting but I'm not sure I understood the core principle of the game. If you need help with the logic and flow of the game send me a pm
Good luck!

It sounds Very Ambitious. My suggestion is to start with a very limited game first, for example, your hero could make a date with a girl at work.

If you can complete that limited game and it is successful, you might be able attract more helpers who would aid you in expanding the game to eventually reach what you are planning.

Good Luck!

Brilliant. All spots for language translation filled then.

@Franco:

Good point. I've been doing a bit of thinking, and while I would like the game to be extensive and huge from the get go, it'll probably be better if I start off by making one date available.

It should be ready in a few weeks time, multilanguage.
