Another confirmed bug, it is possible to get into an endless bucle if you get Evana to walk around the castle in the nude, but unwilling to go to bed with you. This one, however, is not one I can provide you a quick, temporary fix for it

Might I sugest to Chaotic that if you get to the point of Evana being naked and alone in the castle, you having exhausted all the options inside the castle (like the throne room shenanigans), and Evana still not being willing to have sex after the kiss check, she should sugest calling it a night?

(Which, BTW, also doubles as quick fix for those stuck in the bucle)

there is much better bug in the game, which allows you to go endlessly for the horse tours and since you can get some easy points by the lake, it seems to me that you can just go there as many times as you need and then do anything you want with her

This has to be the buggiest game from Chaotic yet, it seems. I can add two/three more:
- Some cookies don't reset properly (at least the throne and some latricia ones)
- Broken up links (in addition to broken links), as in lstreets3.html:

- Not sure if it's a bug, but the store can be visited multiple times.


But ok, that aside. It's nice that the game is bigger, but gameplay-wise I see little improvement. We're still stuck in simply finding every place to increase points. Then you loop through most/all of them and chose the place where you want to end. This is quite easy, given that there are few constraints on the order you can visit the places.
Especially in a game that's a little bigger than the previous ones I'd say there is plenty of opportunity to constrain us a bit more. For example, now it's possible to go to town until it's basically 'too late' (which she says if you want to go back out), yet, you can still get her to go on a horseride. This can be easily constrained by introducing a simple concept of time (you can only do 1 or 2 things in town and still go horseriding, if you do more it's too late). I'm sure there are more places where this would make sense and could make the game a bit more challenging.

The other bad thing I see is inherently 'random' choices, such as the drinking game, holding your breath in the lake and the archery. The first two are about stopping at the right moment. Without any indication when that may be it becomes pure trial and error. The third one is similar, also trial and error, and on top, the only way to reliably reproduce it is to look at your address bar and remember the correct link...

Here is the complete solution for Evana game :

How to flatter her :
1. In the castle cellar, get her drink by arguing that she's untouchable as being the count's daughter.
2. In the castle battlements, take a walk along the ramparts and compliment her on her beauty.
3. In the town inn, sit by the fire and kiss her neck.
4. In the inn on the road, chat about her fortune and encourage her to buy this inn (you can eather flatter or dare her).

How to impress her :
1. In the castle sparring room, have a duel with the instuctor and never yield.
2. In town, try some archery and send the arrow to the bull's-eye (target the top point of the white circle).
3. In town, have a short walk and yell to scare the dog that frightens her.
4. In the town inn, escape from her guard Nelena (distract her attention to the floor right when she tries to block the exit).
5. In the inn on the road, challenge the bartender to a drinking contest (drink exactly 5 times and then yield)
6. At the lake, play in the water (need flattered=2) and hold your breath under the water (hold one time then come up).
7. At the lake, have a seat and kiss her (need impressed=2), then encourage her to slide something off (need flattered=3) and compliment her either about her beauty or her underguts.
8. In Maldore inn, in exchange for a necklace found behind bushes, ask the maid to french-kiss Latricia.

How to have sex with her :
1. When you're alone with her in her room, suggest to change her outfit and let her pick. She may appear naked in front of you (need flattered=3). You can go in any room of the castle with her naked, she even sit naked on the throne ! Back in her bedroom, ask her a kiss when she lays on her bed (need flattered=4), then strip naked (need impressed=4). You can now fuck her on her bed !
2. At the town inn, meet Latricia and suggest Evana to invite her to the castle. As Latricia is not properly dressed, give her the dress that you previously bought at the town shop. In the castle, go with the two girls in the wine cellar, and make Latricia drink. Back to Elana's room, suggest Elana to change her outfit. As previously, she may appear naked (need flattered=3). If Latricia had drunk in the cellar, she will accept to slide off her dress too. You can run around in the castle with both girls naked. Back in Elana's bedroom, get girls sit on the floor an you encourage them to kiss each other. Latricia must have been dare naked on the ramparts before, otherwise she will refuse. Also, the "nude bucle" bug seems to be a rather simple one, after all. To end this bucle, you need Flatter 4, and there's only one flatter-increasing scene once in it (the throne). Since you aren't supossed to get Evana nude without flatter 3 anyway, it *should* be enough to finish the scene. But it seems it's posible for the cookies to get mixed at some point, and you to mistakenly end here with flatter of less than three. (Hey, it's not like nobody has ever complained about cookie problems with these games...)

And since, surprisingly, there are pages ("throne20.html", "throne 21.html" and "throne22.html") to actually handle the throne dare for flatter values of 0, 1 and 2 (always adding 1 to it), you can get stuck.

The fix is, surprisingly, rather simple. For Chaotic, to get rid of those pages and tweak the code of the throne check pages to avoid redirect to them. For the downloaded versions, simply overwrite the three mentioned pages with copies of the file "throne23.html", which sets flatter to a proper, bucle-ending, bug-kiling value.

A big fan of Ariane, and this genre which you are starting to impact on.

I have one suggestion - patience!

You are producing stuff at a rate and then some - look at Shark and Pusooy, they seem to produce games much slower.

If I suggested that you are releasing games too early before they have been checked and counter-checked would I be too wrong.

I think it is churlish for people to complain after all your work, but all the buggyness does detract from your deserved reputation.

I still think my favourite is the very first - Crystal, and I may be wrong, but I am pretty certain that worked pretty near perfect first time.

I'd rather wait longer and get a top notch job, than have to download new version after new version.

Hey Chaotic,

The newest VFG (Evana) is absolutely great. I'm really happy to see you listening to fan advice and tailoring your games to us. I loved that Evana isn't (really) influenced by alcohol. I loved that you made it very clear what we're trying to do (flatter and impress) and that you always make it clear when we did either of those things. (She always says either "I'm impressed" or "I'm flattered" if you accomplish either.)

It's also nice to see you starting to do storylines. There's not a LOT there, but there's more than in the previous games. Your games are really improving nicely. I'm looking forward to the next one.

A few possible bugs:
I'm pretty sure that lake0.htm has a bug in it. It looks like you intend for sitting to work, but it doesn't (at least on the IE version). It always goes to lakeback regardless of which link you click and what your influence is.

I'm not sure if you intended for us to be able to go riding after being dragged back to the castle by the bodyguard. This game is easier than the others, mainly because you can do most of the impress and flatter things no matter which path you take. I'm not complaining, but I'm not sure if that's what you intend.


A few suggestions:
Most importantly, I think your games need more foreplay. I find that once you get past all the influence and flattery, the sex animation comes too quickly. There should be a lot more screens of slowly undressing, extra kissing, touching and kissing body parts, etc, before the animation at the end. It feels like you did more of this in previous games, but that it's been declining recently. I vote for turning the foreplay back up in your next one. Not only is it more fun, it leads to a more satisfying end. You're making a "sexy adventure game." The "adventure" part of the game is really coming along nicely. Now make the sex better.


I'd love to see more of the bodyguard who drags you back home from the in-city inn. Maybe a future game where you're a soldier trying to impress her? If you do, please do a scene where you spar against her. She should probably kick your butt in the end, but could be impressed if you do marginally well. Think in terms of that great Tennis scene (from VDG). She would say things and you choose areas to attack or defend, etc. If clothes get ripped along the way, all the better... Just make sure you tread lightly. Violence against a woman in a sex game is questionable. Just make sure you show that she's totally in control and better than you. You impress her by not letting her hand you your head, not by "beating" her.

I'd also like to see a "skinny dipping in the lake" scene, especially if it leads to sex standing up facing each other while half submerged. Also, don't forget that you're in a fantasy world with magic. Maybe an underwater scene ... Hymm, no I don't think Oblivion ever went underwater. Pity.


Technically speaking:
It absolutely kills me that you've got to release two distributions (firefox and ie). And some of the contortions you do in your code are making your life needlessly hard. I'm going to write some javascrïpt functions for you that should make your life easier and work on all browsers. Using cookies instead of the Ariane way is totally fine. We just need to teach you to use them a bit differently. Give me some time to put something together.
