BTW some history on the game....
In the descrïption for the first NightStud game, it describes the game as a "Original and Unique game concept". This is far from the truth.....
The game is actually based on a 1980's BBS Door game called STUDS! (yes, with the exclamation point). The latest version (v1.5) was in 1992.
Back before the internet was popular there were Bulletin Board Systems that you dialed into directly by modem. They did not have any fancy graphics. Instead they used a special character set (aka font) called ANSI for drawing pictures.
It plays identical to NightStud but with much more basic graphics.
It had 4 bars you could pick women up at. You could talk to them, offer drinks, feel them up (sometimes a woman was not a woman, or was a cop), use condom, or screw.
You would get extra cash for virgins.
You could buy lottery tickets
You could catch diseases, and heal at the doctors
You could get penis enlargement operations
It maintained a top 10 list of the players using the BBS.
If you know how to use DOS, it is actually possible to play the original door game from DOSBox. You can find the game (studs_15.zip) here:
http://www.bbsfiles.com/ftp/TJSoftware/You will need to use the DOSBox program in order to see the ANSI graphics, otherwise you will just get gibberish on the screen.
Now, using DOS is a little complicated. I am not going to go into full details here. If you do not understand unzipping files, changing directories, etc there is probably not much point even trying it.
Load dosbox and type mount c c:
(ignore the message is shows)
Type c:
Then CD to the directory you extracted Studs! to.
Run studutil and reset the configuration, then make your sysop.cfg file (just press enter when it asks for paths). Set the women/day, entries/day, and time limit to 99, enter some names for your bars, and set everything else to No.
Now you are ready to play. Type the following to play locally.
studs! local
There was also a female version called Studette
