Hi, all Ariane fans, we proudly present a new game which you can play with (against) Ariane. You can download it by clicking on the image. Since Ariane is a pretty intelligent girl, the game may be a challenge for you.

Sorry, Shark and monkee, As you easily can see, the game doesn't need some help-word or so on. I've said, that Ariane is an intelligent player, but you alternatively have the option, to start the game as the first and the second player. So you have an equal chance to win!

Love the idea, unfortunately I seem to be having a serious issue with grabbing multiple stones. Am I missing something or is this a possible bug?

Ariane is naked but now, I can take only one stone for each turn..

Great fun Arnulf - but she stays sitting down even when I win repeatedly....game needs developing.

shark, Ariane isn't cheating, if you can take only one stone in spite you want to take some more, this is caused by a slight bug in the game, but this happens in very rare cases. (We never could find this bug!)

Slipstone, it lies in the nature of the game that Ariane is sitting behind the table. If you want to admire the standing, naked Ariane, you must play another game ( UP 17 for instance) or you should play json.err's Black Jack

What do you use to run this program? Ive tried both IE and Firefox and both only allow me to take one stone at a time from a given pile.

Shark, it's not that Ari cheats. It's that she's really freaking vicious when it comes to stones. I got back at her, though. While I was testing the game, I changed it so that she stripped when SHE won....

If the wikipedia article is too bothersome for you, here's the solution:

The setup is 1, 3, 5, 7. Since 1 xor 3 xor 5 xor 7 = 0, the starting player is in a losing position. Should you be the starting player just clear the stones quickly. After you lose click the picture to start a new game.

Once Ariane starts, just make the move that results in heap 1 xor heap 2 xor heap 3 xor heap 4 = 0. For example if Ariane takes 1 from heap 3, you have (1, 3, 4, 7):

The xor is 1. So you can (for example) take away the first heap. Repeat that until you're at (1, 1, 3) or (1, 2). In the first case take 2 stones from the heap with 3 stones. In the second case take both stones from the heap with 2 stones. Then click the picture to undress her and move on to the next game (which you start and lose).
