Ragarding the hole. Have you caught a rat and bought a toolbox? If you have bought a toolbox you need to "place" it in your room before you can "fill the hole".
That seems to be the major block right now. As some other stuff unlocks one the hole if fixed.

1, For Taylor she tells you exactly what it is, you can now work in the gym at 18:00 (and after) where you would normally work somewhere else during the day.
2, did you place all 3 traps? Cause there are 3 locations which are all 3 needed. If yes just wait a few days and you get a event that tells the rat has been caught.
