Ich habe 4 Jahre in Hamburg gewohnt und das war einer der Witze der manchmal wieder kamm (von die Deutscher selber, die Ausnahmefälle mit Humor.) coder, respect for your nice German![img]smile/thumb.gif[/img] Seriously it is a complicated thing to use the correct endings and word constructions, but a very potent help for understanding foreigners is the fact that the German language nearly consists of significant word-torsos so the the meaning is to be understood even if the grammar is a bit faulty.

Felix you are always welcome with your "Bible" you can take, whatever you want. (by the way, the Pink-Floyd Venice show has only a very short survival time remaining at Rapidshare!)

Hello,

Hopin' I can start learning stuff pretty quick. From what I have been able to ffigure out so far, there have to be A BUNCH of variables (playful/romantic, boredom, inebriation, dress, etc., etc., etc) that are manipulated somewhere below the programming I can see. I have tried opening some of the .html files using the notepad editor and I can see some stuff that looks like some of the general navigation info, but there is CLEARLY more than that somewhere. I suspect my next step is to look at these files with a different (more powerful?) editor.

QUESTIONS:
1. Is my presumption about the next step correct?
2. Can you suggest a cheap (free?) editor for this task that I can make work on my dinosaur system?

The editor is not the problem. You can use notepad as well as Wordpad. I prefer GNU Emacs (free software, available for any platform), but this is a different story.
[*]If you want to look at the Original ArianeB 5.8, I suggest you start with the file default.htm and then continue reading the datingsimulator/text*.htm files, branching into the corresponding pic*.htm files.
[*]When researching the UP16, I s would start with system.js and then continue as described above with text* etc.
Don't waste you money for "better" editors (at least not for the purpose of understanding this game).

I had a number of variables in my head of maybe a dozen or so. I would NEVER have guessed anywhere CLOSE to what I'm seein' in default.htm!

OK - I guess school is OPEN and I can learn as much as I have capacity (and time) for. This should keep me occupied for a while!

Hi, Newdood, You should not try to read the code first! Play the game about a year, this is entertaining and you'll learn loving Ariane. You always discover new situations and finally, you can understand the lady better. If it is so, this would be the right moment to have a look in the source code. And then you can use wordpad or editor to get more knowledge about the game.

I'm off work this week so I've been having some fun with continuing to try and create my own Ariane model. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on these. There's something a little wrong with the face that I can't quite work out.



I don't think the hair renders very well either, but maybe I can find an alternative.
