Well I know I have been critical of Chaotic planting such a buggy game as "complete" but I have always tried to stress that I admire his talent.
I had hoped that, since he is charging for membership to his website, he would have a sufficiently professional attitude to constructive criticism.
I am sure I speak for many when I say (again) that the last thing we want is for Chaotic to give up creating games -
I just don't think it is too much to expect him to be a little sympathetic to those of us who have been left trying to complete an impossible game because he rushed the release...
Just saying "Sorry" would have been a start.
Ok I've just read the recent comments on the other post... As I've never paid for Offsite I really can't comment but they seem to reflect the sort of thing I've been trying to warn Chaotic about. Basically it boils down to the fact that when you start wanting people to pay, they start expecting a professional standard.
If Chaotic is reading this may I suggest he sets his rates at a level which reduces customer expectations? If he's not aiming to make money out of it then why not make the membership last 6 months or even a year for the same price?
I doubt he'd lose financially - Swings and roundabouts, and all that. Even I would be more likely to sign up for Offsite if I considered the price to be reasonable enough and one small payment gave me enough time to work my way through all the games. What he lost on monthly subscrïptions would largely be made up by the extra people registering.
Adding 3 or 4 new games a year wouldn't be seen as "poor value for money" - and would encourage people to sign up again the following year.
With a less-demanding audience, Chaotic should feel less pressured to rush product out and so have more time to test games prior to release, etc, giving people less cause to complain.
Don't give it up Chaotic - there's got to be a way to work this out.
