Oy...
I don't intend to sound like an ass, but I probably will. And you'll probably be justifiably upset with me for this post, but I think this needs to be said.
If you made this game, just to be appreciated for your time and effort... In my opinion, you're doing it for the wrong reason. Games are meant to be fun, and enjoyable. I'm not saying "Life with Keeley" isn't fun or enjoyable. I've played through it a few times, and enjoyed solving Keeley's little problems. (
I do wish I could get the cute receptionist to join in, on the fun as well.) I also appreciate that you both made this game. I have played all of the games you two have made, because you both keep making quality stories. It's for that same reason that I stopped playing Chaotic's drivel a long time ago.
While I will play, or ignore, a game because of the people who've worked on it, the main reason I play any game is to have fun. It's that exact reason that I've been enjoying working with Leonizer on his games as well. It's fun! Admittedly I haven't worked on any games that have spent a year in development, but several of the games I have helped Leonizer with have taken several months time to reach completion before they're even published. One of the games I'm currently working on with him has been in development hell for quite some time, and won't be seen by the public for at least another month if not more.
But, I am still more than happy to work with Leonizer, because I enjoy making games, writing scripts, and making sure that I at least have a pleasurable experience when I play the final game. I do not work on these games out of some desire for grand recognition or to garner a collective of sycophants.
There are always going to be some people who think your work is shit.
So what? There is no such thing as the perfect anything, there will always be a flaw, some area that could be improved or tweaked.
So what?If you're not having fun with what you're doing, you're not doing it right. And sometimes that means not doing it at all.
As Greebo said, you're game has only been out for not even 2 days now. You claim to have been nursing it for almost a year. Let everyone have a chance to experience "Life with Keeley" before you disappear into the dark sanctum of the internet. Sure there are going to be people upset/concerned/indifferent about certain aspects of your game. And you know what, that's perfectly fine. We're not you, we never will be. But you've shown us a piece of yourself, and while not everyone will like it, it is more than many of us have offered.
And really, at the end of the day, the only thing that should concern you is this: "Did I have fun? Did I enjoy what I've done?"
Bollocks to everyone else!
