Hey gang... New to the site. LOVE IT! ;)

I also stumbled over Caotics site Virtual Date Girls. Great games.
Recent download was the game Office Party (OP). But there seems to be bugs. To bad :( And I can't find a way to contact him through his site.

I was delighted when I saw some posts here regarding his games.
The problem I have with OP is two actually. First of I manage to get into the boss's office and get the option to lock the door. Well, after locking the door I can't get anywhere. It's like the character freeze up and the game locks up (both online version and downloaded version).

The second problems is when I get the secretary to stand infront of me looking down on my office. There is where something wierd happens. after asking what you think about the party she says this ""I'm...not so keen on barging into places I'm not supposed to be. You have have a quick look if you like."

I then get three options:
1. "Let's just take a walk back to my place."
2. "Let's just take a walk back to my place."
3. "Let's just take a walk back to my place."

When clicking any of the options the game ends with a missing file, "home1.html". ???

I've tried to find a way to work around it but I can't.

Any ideas?
I tried to use the contact webmaster option on his site but it didn't work.

I would sincerly hope for some help on this one! :)

i've played the game multiple times and haven't had a freezing problem before...that is a bummer...

that is a bad ending...yea the file doesn't work, but that is not the way to gt to the ending with the secretary...you'll need to use all 3 items in your office in a certain order at certain times to get the secretary...

Apparently, Chaotic's new business model is that you have to pay money to get a game that works. Good luck with that, Chaotic.

I agree cowboyblob. I really like Chaotic's games and look forward to their release BUT I can't understand leaving games that are so unplayable, due to bugs, uncorrected for a month or more. How long does it take to correct the flawed code when the visitors to your site are pointing out the areas that need to be redone? And why were the games (such as the office party game) released with such noticeable flaws in the first place. Neither of the two good Office Party endings can be obtained on the downloadable IE version.

it's a pretty common thing, ppl get greedy.
They see that there's interest in their work, they might have gotten a tiny amount out of it before, but they want more.
They start charging for things, often without any real improvement and their focus shifts from quality to quantity.

Yeesh. Not that I don't want to see more solid games, but bitching about things that are being given away is pretty tasteless, guys. If you're a paid member, and you aren't satisfied with the quality/quantity of the off-site stuff, that's one thing. Being a non-paid member and barbing Chaotic for providing free games that aren't up to your standards is another.

I'll award a few thousand "Atta Boy"s for that sentiment.

As far as I am concerned my "barbing" about Chaotic's free offerings was always to the effect that it deters people (myself included) from wanting to part with their hard-earned...
From the comments made here by paid members it seems my points are totally valid and the paid site is no better than the freebies when it comes to bugs going unfixed, etc, etc.
Perhaps people don't understand the difference between a "barb" and constructive critisism which is intended to aid continuous improvement.

the off-site games have had plenty of problems. add the rate that games come out, and the subscription is not worth the price, imo. i had it last year, and doubt ill ever renew

To be honest, I don't think Chaotic is greatly concerned by criticism. If he was you'd imagine he would have made some basic changes to his development model, such as getting someone to spend a couple of hours testing the games before they're released.

I would also disagree that the fact that Chaotic isn't charging money for some of his games somehow makes them immune to constructive criticism. Even if you're not spending money, you're still spending time playing them. And if one or more of the endings are inaccessible due to broken links, then you've wasted that time. In the best of all possible worlds, the fact that Chaotic's games consistently have those sort of problems would make people stop playing them (and stop complaining about them). However, in this world what happens is that people continue to play Chaotic's games because, as flawed as they are, they're 'the only game in town' as far as dating games go.

His blog comments are turned off, the game still crashes/loops when I try to lock the boss' door... I'm done with it.

I've never understood Chaotic's refusal to use beta testers. It was understandable with his first game, he probably did not have contacts within the community, but now, a call for beta testers on his web site would elicit dozens if not hundreds of responses. Chaotic could eliminate most of the criticism by implementing this one practice. That he doesn't beta test leads me to agree with ExLibris that Chaotic just doesn't care what others think.

Pretty sure the Office Party is still on the pay site. And is very buggy from what I hear. It's possible to see the endings by pasting the urls into a browser and just reading through in order--they're numbered more or less linearly. This is something to which I've resorted with both Chaotic's games and phreaky's.
