This reminded me of the old story of how Noah sent all the animals out of the Ark with strict instructions to "go forth and multiply".
Soon all had gone except a pair of snakes. "Please Noah, how can we multiply - we're adders!"
Noah scratched his head and said, "Go to the woodshed until you've figured out a way."
Time passed and Noah had almost forgotten the snakes, but one day out wriggled the proud parents with half a dozen little baby adders.
"Well done!" said Noah, "How did you do it in the end?"
