A suggestion for an extra forum...

Given the recent switch to a different server and all the work that entailed, I'm probably too late with this but here goes:
In the "All Sexy Games" forum we keep getting people popping up asking for walkthroughs of games - and others providing them - in the middle of a general discussion of the topic.
I've also just been trying to play an old game (nothing much new around) and have got stuck and simply can't remember the next step. As this is a case of "been there, done that", I don't feel I want to wrack my brain figuring out the same problem all over again - so I've been trying to find an old walkthrough in the forum... but, of course, none of the old links work now.
Would it not be a good idea to have a separate forum for walkthroughs, so only the people who are looking for one will go there? It would also make it much easier to find a game even years later, because you'd only have one entry - where hopefully the subject line would be the name of the game.
Going back through the old stuff would be a hell of a job, I know. But even if it only applies to games starting from "now", the benefits could at least begin to accrue.
Thanks for all the great work, by the way.

realistically people should use the consultation forum, however people dont,so i dont see how a new forum would help...

Shark did mention not long ago the possibility of adding a walkthrough section to the forum, which I find would be a very good solution for a walkthrough search !
But Shark himself or possibly a mod cant give a update about this !?

As I already said, I think that a " hints and walkthroughs" section would be interesting.
However, this section would be running the risk to be a additionnal place where all the requests for help would be posted.(cheese101 is right)
The solution could be a locked forum where only 2 or 3 people could post. (I had called them the " Master of the games").
The members who would wish to post a hint or a walkthrough would propose it by PM to one of the "Masters of the games" and those would have the task to organize the proposals by putting them in the thread corresponding to the game
(one game = one thread) or by refusing them if they already exist .
If you like this idea, I am ready to create the section as soon as we will have 3 " masters of the games" volunteers.

I'd like to say first that I do like this idea. It would almost certainly cut down on repeated requests for the same help over and over, and hopefully LRM's blood pressure can slowly return to normal.
But -- may I suggest that when a new game comes out that the walkthrough should not be posted for at least a couple of weeks?

I like your idea Shark... although I think if you try putting filters in place people will be too darn lazy to bother and just post their entry in the general forum anyway...
The existing "All sexy games" is a great place to find new stuff, when it's not being bogged down with people asking for hotlinks to pay sites

but finding help on a game can be hit n miss because there tends to be so many threads about the same game..
Oh and yes, by "walkthrough" I meant to include hints and tips. If you get stuck in one particular scene, you don't want to risk spoiling the rest of the game by going through a complete walkthrough.
I'm glad to hear you're considering something along the lines anyway. Great minds and all that

Just a thought...
If the thread subject was the name of the game.. the walkthru could be done in steps, with a separate post for each. eg:
Subject: Babysitting
First post would be: Phone call from Richard... Place cursor on Flo's lap. Then on yours. Finally on Flo's head
Next post would be: Lola arrives.... Place cursor on doorknob...
Making posts "invisible" would be a bonus...
I hope I've not spoiled that game for anyone lol

Indeed, the " hints" thread for a game can be built in this way. A second thread can contain the complet walkthrough.

Kessie8ylI do like the basic idea of your proposal, the base idea has been discussed within our team but I think it might better handled within one comment.
May I demonstrate, and there may be a better way:
Phone call from Richard
Lola arrives
....
That way someone desperate can quickly locate and see only what they need.
Of course, none of us would be providing as directly as in the above, more like a cryptic "Well, how do you propose Lola get in?"

I'd suggest a combination of the two. We could provide both a cryptic hint (normal text - not hidden) and, for those of us too dense/lazy/tired/frustrated to puzzle out the hint, we could put a blatant "CLICK HERE" solution behind a spoiler mask.
Regardless of what the hints and walkthroughs thread looks like, we'll STILL need to have some method of feedback from the players. Anybody willing and competent to put together this hints thread (post?) will be somebody who is familiar with Shark's games. Something that is obvious to him (or her) may be far less so to a pilot fish.
I'd like to suggest a format: Have the "master of the game" create the topic for the game, so that he and the moderators can edit the first post of the topic. Make that first post the moderated one with the hints (both cryptic {normal text} and blatant {hidden behing spoilers}). Let the rest of the thread develop as usual, so we can monitor it to see if there are any hints that should be added to the moderated post.

With all respect, I don't agree. Unless the "solution" is sending the user to a site where he could download some porn movies. Complete solutions, only within a walkthrough, to be published months after the premiere of the game.
My point is that if you are a gamer you like challenges. Otherwise (in this particular case) you're there just for seeing a bit more of flesh, not for playing!
Cheers!

We are in agreement mon ami;
For the record I like pilot fish, without them I would starve
![langue ](./images/smilies/icon17.gif)
and the board would wither. The vast majority of their requests for assistance are not a problem. Those screaming for an immediate solution without any thought or effort on their part will not be much of a loss. IMO once their problem is solved they will disappear until the next release of an adventure. At that time they will require a new identity because they forgot who they were or that they were ever a member. I do not see these types as beneficial to the Lagoon and happily speed their departure (dismounts and stores soapbox).

For the record too, my opinion was addressed to all non-gamers, pilot fishes or not! I don't make any discrimination!
And the non-gamers have a lot of space in the forum: Sexy girls, Beach. Besides there is the Contrib area in the main site where they will find a lot of fresh flesh!
Cheers!

Hmm... Perhaps it is also possible to understand that when a gamer is playing an enthralling game, he wants not to spend many time for reading threads with several tens of pages (especially if English is not his native language) and that his first desire is to continue the game...

I suggest we respectfully disagree on this point. The reply is often many hours after the request. Enough time to read and alleviate any frustration IMO.
