How did those annoying popups find their way into the lagoon and can we stop that?

Not sure what Craban means but:
I note that we get a popup alert if we have a PM when we login.

Then, and maybe this is the point in question. I just now got a 'message' from Il Joker supposedly as a PM [couldn't understand why] but he was apparently posting to his new thread re "Naheela's Pains".

I did get something similar a few days back. In both cases the dialog box was relatively small and void of text.

That is what I meant:

As you can see this is Firefox. The message box just appeared when I entered a forum.

I fear if this is something everybody can do we will be flooded by those.

It's a "fast message", isn't it?
Indeed, everyone can send some. You have just to choose the recipient in the list of connected people.
You click " OK" to say that you have read and you can answer (or close the window without answer)

OK, I was not aware of this "fast message". Thanks for the pointers.

The reason I asked was that I got two in a row while browsing this forum and another one the day after (not from the same user btw). I obviously could not find those in the PM so my first impression was like what the f*, where is this spam coming from?

If this is a known and accepted feature and is not overused I can live with that or at least I'll try ;-)

I understand Craban, I've had this happen to me twice. I don't remember the "POPUP" having a MESSAGE, only a notification that someone HAD sent a PM. But the PM page is, and has always been, "None Private messages".

Re @Mimailia

I do believe that I've had the PM Popup and found it blank, but unsure if I did actually have a PM.

With that also said, now that I know the significance of that PM Popup, and it tells me to click to read nothing happens other than the window disappears. The Popup might be better replaced as a Javascrïpt alert since I have to scroll tp "Private Messages" anyway.

i have found that the message is in the pop and when you click you can send a message back...granted these are the Fast Messages i'm talking about, not the PM warning...

I'm beginning to think that I have had a few those recently. Today I received a PM notification which overlaid a slightly larger blue dialog box. A second one, later in the day appeared similarly but it seems the message was not PM so that person gts no chance of a reply.
