I just got DAZ3D recently (yesterday) and I already tried some stuff here and there and watched some beginner tutorials. But otherwise I'm a complete newbie when it comes to 3D and rendering.
But I got some questions and I hope you can answer them.

1. What's the basic stuff you should get to create some good renders?
2. I often heard that I should get a figure called Victoria 4. But the first question I got is: Why? I mean DAZ already got his own figures, what are the advantages?
3. Where do I get the adult stuff. You know, the stuff between the legs, are these already included in some figures?

1 - Depends if you are rendering on 3dDelight or Iray, But learn how to use the lighting is always a good start,
My tip is: what some tutorial, and try a lot of different things on quick renders

2 - Download Genesis 2 and 3 they are free, and most people uses genesis 2
Victoria 4 is kind of old,but you can use all her resources on Genesis 2, may not work too well on genesis 3( most sexy content like lingerie and such can be found for Victoria 4 free)
Really, work with Genesis 2, even the people from LOPgold use it

3 - Renderotica have then all(paid), <== the best, and for male the only place to find, I think
most new female paid models have then but not the realistic kind, and definitely not for sex,
just search "Genesis 2 Genitalia" on google

As to the basic stuff you need to make good renders, what do you want to render?

You mean I can use all the stuff (clothes, hairs etc.) that was made for Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 also?
So Genesis 2 is better/newer as Victoria 4?


I just made a comparison betwen Genesis 3(left) and Genesis 2(right)

I personally like the skin of Genesis 3 more but I guess there's no way to switch them?

Most of the times it will fit perfectly other times you will need to fit manually.
V4 it the one with more freebies out there

Alright I got another question:

How do I change the texture/materials of the hair I installed myself? Am I Installing it wrong?

I always unzip the runtime folder into this directory:
C:\Users\Home\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

In DAZ it always shows up under 'Poser Formats' why doesn't it show up under 'DAZ Studio Formats'?
I mean I don't care into what folder it gets put, I can use the hairstyle but there's no option to change the texture.

I'm using DAZ Studio 4.9

It shows up in the Poser formats because the structure of the hair is in Poser format (directory named Runtime with sub-directories named Libraries and Textures).

After loading the hair into your scene, click on the hair in your viewport window. In the screenshot you posted, the hair textures should be under the word 'Pose' on the left side of your screen.
Click on the word 'Pose', then look for "Arah3D Elven Princess Hair" The textures should appear

After looking for a long time on Daz markteplace, I didn't found a proper genitalia, even those on pro-bundles can't be shaped.

I folowed the suggestion here, seems like Renderotica is the best place to find it, but there are a lot of diferent options, some require Daz pro-bundle packages.

Any of you could suggest a good item on renderotica for Genesesis 2 or Victoria 6, that doesn't require pro-bundle? Or maybe the best author.

I found this "New Genitalia For Victoria 6 - 2.0" from 3feetwolf, but I'm not sure to spend a few dollars and does not work

There's a free genitalia for Victoria 4 at sharecg; with a little bit of adjusting you might be able to use it on Genesis 2 or Victoria 6. Here's the link

I have had trouble finding a good anus effect, personally.

For Victoria 4, you can use the Lali's Bits figure (DS version here: https://www.renderotica.com/store/sku/4 ... -v1-for-DS ) or one of the Arduino figures (I think this is the most versatile version: https://www.renderotica.com/store/sku/4 ... -V4-Wg-Rs3 ) and copy your morphs and textures to it. I am not really recommending either, honestly. I think new users would probably want something for G3F/G3M anyway.

For Michael 4, I don't think I've seen anything even as good as that.

I think there are probably better versions for other, more recent figures.

Since most of my character design is in V4 & M4, if I do more porn, I may have to build my own.

I started using DAZ with Genesis, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3. I realized that most free things were for Victoria 4, so I buy it, but I didn't like. Things do not fit easily, any variation and things doesn't work, like Shefreak 4, nothing from V4 works. Guess I need to buy the magnetic fits https://www.daz3d.com/v4-shefreak-4-magnet-fits

Genesis seems like a offseason, almost nothing available, very few variations. G3 is the ultimate model, things are expensive right now. So I have invested in G2, already have Victoria 6, Meridiana, Stephany 6, ... the clothes that fit in one, fit in the other. The smart content is very easy to use.

The only piece missing is the genital parts.

For the male I got on of this two, is working fine for Genesis Male 2

In DAZ once you have chosen your characters skin and applied this gen you will need to go into surfaces and select g2's hip skin.
Copy that and then paste it to the Genital models surface that will match the Genital skin textures to the skin texture you have used for your model.

Hello Creators! There are some points that I was wanting some clarity on and haven't been able to get a confirmation through other sources. I am using DAZ 4.9 with iRay and Vic/Mic 7 models.

The terms Shaders and textures. Are they interchangeable or are they hierarchical, like Assests > wearables > pants?

At the DAZ Shop the listings for items classifies the figures and programs they can be used in. When we see something like this:

Compatible Figures: N/A
Compatible Software: DAZ Studio 4.9, DAZ Studio, Poser

...as with http://www.daz3d.com/marrakesh-souks-2012. I am assuming this scene would be okay with what I am using, yes?

With scenes, models, wearables, etc often times the artist/lister will show screens of the item/s. Sometimes the screens will show the texture shaded(?) image and some don't. Can your own textures be added to these? And if so, can they be added to the items that don't show the texture shaded(?) image.

Dealing with workable genitalia (this isn't accidental humor for older men). Daz does allow for some manipulation of the masculine bits but doesn't seem to include the alteration of size. Is this correct?

From what I have been reading to make realistic poseable male/female interactions, add-ons will be needed for both genders, yes?
