Hmm... That would be very annoying. I can see that the window is corrupted too in it's display, specifically the check boxes in the top right corner of the screen for loop/reverse/mp3/ogg/etc...

Have you tried updating/reinstalling your .net redistributable package from MS? I have seen that solve similar issues with other programs. Maybe Tlaero can advise the best version to use.

I've recently updated to 8.1 (but AC hasn't been working on 8 as well) and as I've been combing through the google, I came to an impression, that it's impossible to uninstal/repair .NET 4.51 as it's part of the system. .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool also says it's okay (it also validated everything from 2.0 upwards)

Hmm... I'm out of ideas on this one. Sorry.

My render/gaming computer is Windows 8.1 running and 1920x1080 on one screen, 1440x900 on the second.
My laptop where I do most of my actual writing is running Windows 8 and 1920x1080 on the main screen, 1920x1200 on the Second, and 1024x1280 (portrait) on a third running from a dock.

AC runs, minimizes/restores normally on all displays on both computers for me.

Maybe try running in compatibility mode by Right-Clicking the launch icon, choose properties, and using settings under the compatibility tab.

Some key settings to try are simply changing the mode to an earlier operating system. Also try the checkbox for "Disabling display scaling on High DPI settings." Or just start by running the compatibility troubleshooter. Maybe one of those combinations will get that working for you.

If that doesn't work, I'm unfortunately out of ideas.

Some wild shot's in the dark:
Corrupt video card driver, try an update.
Conflicting application running at the same time.

This is really a great tool. I wouldn't be creating an HTML game without it. It makes the process very easy and quick. I hope you can get it working reliably, and I really look forward to seeing your game!

SILePER what resolution is your screen set to and what size does your size.css say your images are?

to Wolfschadowe:
Ok, so thanks again for your time and effort but nope, nothing, it just seems that this program doesn't like me and I'm almost out of ideas too :(

Tlaero

My screen is set to 1366x768, though as I said earlier, it happens with every new instance of the program so I never even got the chance to create new project.

PS: Though I may have some crazy, last resort solution , doesn't anybody know if the AC runs under Wine on Linux?

EDIT: in case anybody gets even crazier ideas about what it meant, I had in mind virtual machine

SILePER,

Hmm... It may look like crap, but just for giggles, try setting your resolution to 1024x768 and see what it looks like. I'm assuming that 1366x768 is your max resolution for your computer/laptop/surface.

Also try compatibility mode to force 640x480 resolution.

Neither of these would be a fix, but if one looked like it worked, it would be a clue towards a solution.

AC will run off of a USB key. Maybe copy it to a USB drive and see if it runs ok on another computer.

Regarding WINE, I haven't played with that for 5-10 years or so, but I suspect it should work. There's nothing really intense about the Adventure Creator that I think would slip WINE up.

I will say, the vertical minimum for the AC window is 900 for me, so having only 768 could be a problem unless you run your screen in portrait mode, if that's an option. Give it a try if your system supports it.

Of course, I think it was all my feature requests that bloated the vertical for AC from 768 to 900 pixels. :) Maybe we can sweet-talk Tlaero into making an alternate widescreen mode.

Tlaero,

Speaking of requests, here's another one for game view, but if it's any kind of hard at all, don't bother with it, because it's not worth much effort.

I've come across a few instances where it would have been nice to be able to see the current image filename listed in the Game View, maybe as a note between the HTM page file name and the Preload/TopText.
Since my image names usually match my page names, it would be a fast check as I scan Game View to make sure I'm using the right page with the right image without having to load the page in the main AC window and look in the title-bar.

Sorry, SILePER, the minimum size of the AC window is larger than 1366x768.

So yes, resolution is the problem, I just ran it on the same computer (different from the one I used earlier) on two different monitors - 1680x1050 worked fine(relatively), but 1024x768 had the same problem

to Tlaero:
is it possible to get earlier version of the AC which has smaller resolution? Pretty please?

If not, that's fine, life is tough - I just learn to use html5, css3 and JavaScript :( , or use Renpo, I have also thought about a good gamebook engine with image support.

So thanks for your continuous support Wolfschadowe, I'll figure something out

Not really a big deal, but is there a way to make it so that you can check which HTML files have a corresponding image easily?

Yet another feature request, again low priority, nice to have for Game View.

Currently clicking on a page name in Game View opens that page in AC. It would be great if there was a button/link/whatever next to each page title that would open the page in either the default browser or the browser identified in the Main AC for "browse HTML"

When I'm testing a path and making small corrections I generally work between my browser and my storyboard in Visio. When I need to backtrack, or jump between paths or conversation branches I currently click the link to the page in Game View and then select File/Browse HTML in AC. I have three monitors connected to the system I build and validate the pages so the browser is on one monitor, AC on a second and my storyboard on the third. While I could, technically, just type the page name in the browser window, I often like to have AC and the browser displaying the same page when I am doing my editing/verification pass since I tweak about half the pages. With this addition I could click the title to open the page in AC, and immediately click the nearby link to open it in the browser too, skipping the file pulldown.

Again, just a nice to have, so if it's too much of a pain, don't worry about it.

Thanks Tlaero!

The easiest thing I could do would be to make ctrl-b do the browse html. Since clicking the game view link returns focus to the main window, you could click and hit ctrl-b without moving the mouse. Next likely thing would probably be something like ctrl-click on the link in game view does "open in the main window and browse."

Would either of those help?

Either of those would be great. The lazy part of me likes the CTRL+Click to do both best, but I'm happy with whichever is easiest for you.

Thanks for considering it Tlaero!

Okay, I just uploaded AC 4.7.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/six8f ... reator.zip

You can now open the current file in your web browser with Ctrl-b. You can also do it directly from GameView by right clicking on the filename. Left click opens the file in AC like before. Right click opens it in AC and then opens it in the browser.

I took this out for a spin, and it's absolutely perfect! It speeds up my validation workflow more than I thought it would. I use the right-click option primarily, but found myself using the hotkey under different circumstances.

Thanks again Tlaero!
