I'm a novice at this stuff & I have no idea on how to open "rar"/zip download folders, any guideance would be appreciated.
I'm running xp with IE7 if u need to know

download the program named "winrar" and decompress the .rar file...
then you'll get a folder with all ne necessary stuff inside...

how do I "decompress"?? I'm that much of a newbie

right click, unzip files or decompress...

Personally, I'd stay away from downloading games via torrents. Heard quite a few stories of viruses being included in the files. The only files I get from torrents are video files. e.g. Doctor Who, Torchwood.

I am a relative newcomer to these interactive games, but I love them, and this site has been a real revelation for me.

However I have one technical problem. I simply can´t open the taf-coded games. The games with .taf at the end of their names. I have tried everything from downloading special programs to scanning my harddrive. But without luck. I am simply at mit wits end.

Can anyone in this great community help me? Any piece of advice would be much appreciated.

Fisrt search : '.taf extension' -> result : it's an adrift file
Second search : 'adrift' -> result : www.adrift.org.uk where you can download the generator and/or the runner.

As Laparka stated "Winrar" will work; however, I personally like 7zip better as a compression/decompression software for use with Windows.

I scan everything I download with my antivirus software, scanning all compressed files before uncompressing them. So far, it's worked.

Thank you for your advice, everyone. I had already tried to download the generator fra ADRIFT but that didn´t help me. And my pc is relatively new and safe, so taht shouldn´t be the problem either.

I will now try some of the other methods you suggest.
