When the stars predict that a boy born out of wedlock will marry a princess and rule a nation, evil King Claudius takes action to protect his dynasty. Will Henry wed the lovely Crown Princess Ophelia, or does Fate have another destiny in store for him?

Playing time to see all endings (there are 3 major endings) is about an hour. This visual novel was inspired by a Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

EDIT: I think I've fixed all of the broken links.
If you played The Two Golden Hairs, I'd appreciate feedback. The only 'payment' I get for my free visual novel is counting number of views and comments.
Very respectfully,
fleet

Kexter gets the credit for compatibility; he developed some tools and techniques that made compatibility possible.

Hey Fleet! Thanks for suggesting this forum to me!

You mentioned you weren't able to test your game in Linux yet. If you'd like to, you can use Linux Live USB Creator to make a bootable USB thumb drive with a free version of Linux; I used Ubuntu and it worked great to test my Ren'Py project.

As far as your game goes, I thought it was super clever to adapt a Brothers Grimm story and add some sexy elements to it! I'm gonna have to go digging through some fairy tales for ideas now! :D

My main piece of feedback is this, regarding the "left" or "right" choice:

Normally, when I see this type of arbitrary, binary choice in a game (do you pick the first door or the second door? Do you go down the left or right hallway? Do you go up or down the stairs?), I groan. It's just random chance: the game will say, "Oops, you clicked left, so you walk off a cliff! GAME OVER" or "Uh oh, behind the first door was a giant spider and it eats you! GAME OVER", it's like, what the hell, I had a 50/50 chance of picking the wrong thing, now I have to load (or worse, start from the beginning!). How is this 'fun', or 'gameplay'??

So I was pleasantly surprised to find that in your game, you get a whole second version of the second half of the story, each with their own possible unique endings! Well done, man!

Thanks for the feedback, and welcome to the lagoon!
I received feedback a long time ago about avoiding the 'you're immediately dead' result when giving the player choices. Some of my older games probably still have that result. On my more recent games, when a player choice ultimately leads to 'game over' I try to have some additional story before the game ends.

Well I also liked that for any other choices that *did* result in an almost immediate Game Over:

A. it made sense why you got the Game Over, it was never just a 50/50 totally random guess between left or right, up or down, Door #1 or Door #2. Like when you choose to not go on the quest, well, that makes sense why the game would end right then, doesn't it? :P

and

B. you got to just go back and choose the other option *immediately*, instead of having to start all the way over at the beginning, so it was encouraging to not have to worry so much about making perfect choices, but just to click on whatever you wanted to see, knowing if it was a bad ending you'd get to undo your choice right away and continue on with the story.

So I thought it was a great compromise for a visual novel that has hard-stop, 'bad' endings. I mean, I'm reading a visual novel because I want to see how it ends, right, not because I want to be told "OOPS TOO BAD YOU LOST HA HA START OVER FROM THE BEGINNING" over and over!
