Hello, today we've released a new free game, which is a prequel to our SAG game - Roommates.

Image

This time the story is centered on Vivian attempting to get to know Lina. The game uses minimal assets and invisible parameters to change the scenarios, allowing for different interactions and up to four endings.

If you want to play as Vivian you can find Roommates: Evening with Lina here: http://playforceone.com/gamehosting/r8_pre/

NOTE: It’s our first UNITY game – please let us know if you’ve encountered any technical issues with it.

I tried to run the game on Firefox 50.1.0 (OS: Vista 32-bit) without success. The browser downloads the data, it starts preparing the game and then it stops. A popup says:
"The browser could not allocate enough memory for the WebGL content. If you are the developer of this content, try allocating less memory to your WebGL build in the WebGL player settings."

From JS console: uncaught exception: out of memory (UnityLoader.js -> LoadJSCodeBlob(e,t))

Reloading the page (CTRL+F5), opening an incognito window or emptying the cache did not solve the problem.

On the same machine, the game runs smootly on Pale Moon (a fork of Firefox). :)

Works pretty OK with Firefox on Windows 10.

Apparently there is a scene with Marcie. I can't figure out how to get it. Every time I try to call Marcie it says "call failed."

I could do it when I had familiarity:15 (or more), intoxicated 3 (this is max, 4 is Hangover end's) and arousal 50 (you can do it before that, I was trying something different)

To get the Marcie scene you should be naked.

I used to like lop games, but lately they are going downhill, yeah graphics are much better, but everything else game after game, they just keep repeating the same old gameplay and stories, easily forgetable games and characters, nothing new, just more of the same, i guess now their games only impress the newcomers

I think that's a combination of porn game fatigue and the fact that they are a small company and can only do so much. After a while players get used to the content and it becomes less exciting. Lesson of Passion could put out games with a more niche appeal to mix it up a bit but they can only produce so many games a year so they have to make sure that their games have a large enough player base to justify the effort and time put into making a game vs. working on a different project.

Club Velvet Rose seems to be deviating into a little bit more niche market so we'll see how that does and if that will justify Lesson of Passion creating a more diverse stable of games.

The game itself is perfectly fine for a free game and I don't think the intent was to break new ground but to do a test run making a game with Unity. I'm actually excited to see what the future will bring for Lesson of Passion.

Walkthrough
talk*3 +1 familiarity each time
video +1 familiarity
beer +1 intoxicated
massage/stop
beer
undress
touch yourself +2 arousal (required arousal >0)
porn +1 arousal (required arousal >2)
touch yourself *3 (last time Lina will touch herself also)
move pillow
play with strap on +3 arousal
undress (naked)
play with strap on
massage / breast / stop (go to panties if you want end 2)
beer (now intoxicated is 3, don't drink again or she will pass out and you'll get a bad ending)
video
Undress*2 (it doesn't increase arousal this time, is just to see you naked)
massage/breast/stop
video until familiarity 15
now call Marcie for ending 2 but with threesome or..
porn until arousal 25
play with strap on
use strap on on Lisa (end 3)

End 1 if you go further than you can with her
End 2 sex but no attachment
End 3 strap on
End 4 Lina passes out with alcohol

I like that you guys are experimenting and trying new technologies, like Unity.

I don't, however, feel that this experiment was successful. Judging from what I see here, I think you'd be better off with HTML5 than Unity for your games. The game took a longer than normal time to download and it was extremely slow on changing pictures. (I had long "Loading" screens.)

As for the game itself, it felt too repetitive. How many times in a row would she really let you give her a massage before saying, "No, that's enough"?

I recognize that in many of the roleplaying games you do the same action over and over again to build your stats (jog in the park, etc). But in those games, the action is one or two clicks. In this game, it was a lot of clicks to run each of the repetitive actions (watching videos, massaging, etc) with no changes in the text or images to make them interesting. So the vast majority of the game is spent rapidly clicking the screen to get text you've already read multiple times go by quickly.

This was made worse by the fact that I didn't see any indication that I had done any of the actions enough times, so I probably did them more than was necessary. If you made a small change in the text at the end of each of the repeated actions that indicated that it was time to do something else, it would help a bunch. You don't have to come right out and say, "It's time to do something else." You could make a mention of her aroused state, or say something like, "She looks over at you and smiles softly." Just something different in the description to let us know we've reached the hidden trigger point where its safe to try something else.

What Tlaero said. I was logging in to say just that.

I love Lina and Viv, and I enjoyed End 2/4, but working up to ~40/2/40 *twice* (it freezed once) was a royal pain [Edit: totally unnecesary, as Brontozaurio has shown], and I felt a little discouraged to search for other endings.

I just started to see SugarCube and aPNG capabilities and I am not so sure about if this could be done to look as professionally (it can be done, see 2nd edit below). But in this case, the professional look stood directly against playability.

[Edit]: On the plus side, Viv tan lines show that she is pretty frisky, but Lina total absence of tan lines while still sporting a tan show that she is way more daring than she appears to be. Nice touch!

[2nd Edit]: Off-topic, but yes, one can do pro-looking games as Corrupted Dreams with aforementioned SugarCube.

Unity is a great engine, and so many game developers are using it, but honestly i don't think it's the best engine for this kind of games, 3d engines for visual novels... if i was going to do this kind of games i'll for sure use other better engines like renpy, flash or or just html5.

We're all assuming that Leo's intent is to keep making visual novel type games. His plans for the future may involve making games where Unity would be the better option. This could just be an experiment with Leo making a game he already knows how to make but he is just using the Unity to make it. It's already been noted that this is a very generic Lesson of Passion game, which would make sense if he was just looking to experiment. I have a feeling that in future we may start to see new features being added to games and perhaps a slow progression to a new type of game.

Unity may not be the best option for what Leo is doing now but it may be the better option for where Leo wants to be to make the games he wants to make a year from now.
