 another reason to not update to windows 10.
:D :D

Thanks for playing it.

Windows 10 comes with Direct 12, which is only backwards compatible with DirectX 11. To play any of these VNs that require DirectX 9.0c, you'll need to download the full package from Microsoft ->http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109. After you download the package, extract it to its own folder, then run DXSETUP.exe and follow the instructions. The wizard will install of the necessary files and after it's done, you should be able to play any of my VNs.

Second time I tried to do this. Same result. Get error message that you must be running earlier versions of windows to run dxsetup9.0. Just won't work with win 10.

I don't recall seeing if you tried the method suggested by Rikwar at http://the-new-lagoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3004&p=67335&hilit=Specter#p67335.

I don't recall seeing if you tried the method suggested by bartux at http://the-new-lagoon.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3603#p89803.

If none of the suggestions work, I'm sorry, but I'm out of ideas.

Have you tried this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109? If I do a search for "DirectX 9 for Windows 10", this link comes up multiple times.

thx. will check it out.
edit. found it and dl it. downloaded Giles but got same error. I deleted the files it extracted and noticed a DXset.exe but it was too late but had deleted too many files so will try again another time. Might actually work. I did notice the .dll that is missing when installing Giles though.

But did get further so it works from that point of view. Don't know if it will install directx 9.0 or not yet.
Edit 2: That worked but set a recover point just in case. Games works but does crash at points but works if I just reload the game. BTW the game I downloaded is Giles not this one but it lets me play it.

Superpaulgames made a Let's Play video (three parts) of Wallis and the Time Machine.
Here's the link to Part One.

I just found out that the bandwidth limit for November on box dot com has been hit, and won't reset until 1 December 2015 (meaning nobody can download my stuff from there until then). The alternate download site is in the spoiler in the first post.

If anybody knows of a free file hosting site without bandwidth limits that will allow me to track downloads, I'd appreciate knowing about it.

Very respectfully,
fleet

Hi Fleet!
I would advise the use of Zippyshare, the only con being that the only limits they have are:
1. Each file can't exceed 200MB
2. 60 days after the last download they delete the file.

Hope this helps,as they have generally fast connections and you may download several files at the same time. I've made it with 5 files and there was no problem.

Cheers... or as you usually say, very respectfully!

None of my visual novels are anywhere near 200 MB.
I took a look their FAQ and Terms of Use. I didn't see anything about the uploader being able to track downloads.
EDIT: I'll check it out.

Honestly I've only used them as downloader. So I don't know what features they have for uploaders.
Cheers!

I've uploaded "Wallis and the Time Machine" there. I'll give it a 30 day test. It appears that as an uploader I can track number of downloads, I've added a new link in the first post of this topic.

Very respectfully,
fleet
