Just a quick fyi on this one... to lie means either to position one's self in a horizontal position on a bed, floor, etc, or to tell a falsehood. The word lying is no different. It is a valid form of both words.
@palmer
Partially you get me, and partially not.
I realize we're only seeing the setup. Still lots of directions where you can go with the game. That's part of why I bothered to mention some of the things I did (hoping it will make sense in the end. I have no way to know yet if it would without my comments flow smoothly or hit some of the flaws a lot of other games hit).
The photo contest, generally when a game puts a target in there, it is attainable. You've set a goal of winning money from an 18+ photo contest. It's possible that you will slam that door shut in the players' faces (either elegantly or not) without any chance of success. Currently it appears as if winning will be an option. As the setup for it stands now though, anyone 14 or 16 (and having possession of porn magazines) is well aware of the fact that porn requires the participants to be 18. They seem to be ignoring this fact, though surely they both know it. That isn't to say that youths don't frequently try to bend and break rules. But when they do, they spend elaborate amounts of time plotting ways to get away with it.
The boy might think, wow, a photo contest... not only would I love to win some money, but I wonder where I can catch some 18 year old naked to get some photos. Kids are slow and inexperienced when it comes to plotting (which is why they are always so confused when adults can tell instantly when they are lying and scheming). After he knows about the contest, and then sees his sister again in a sexy way, maybe he starts thinking, she's looking pretty developed, maybe she could pass. Or, who cares about the contest, but I'll try to get pictures anyway. Either way, the boy's motivation to want pictures is understandable. But he will need some rationalizations ready if he thinks he's going to talk sis into it.
As for Emily, her first voiced reaction may well be, what... you photo me? What? (as it currently is) After that though, it won't take long for her to comment that she isn't 18, and so how could they possibly even enter with her. Even more so with, as you comment, the money being a motivator that they talk about. If they want to win the money, they need to think that they CAN win the money.
The general flow of such a plan is.... shock, we can't because, well maybe that would work, wow I'm excited and let's do this. It isn't the only flow, but I'd put it as by far the most common. Obviously one could also have very lax judges who don't have the due-diligence to pay attention to who is submitting and winning, but it is very unlikely. Whether or not the kids think they can get away with it, and whether or not they do is certainly not the same question either. Among other things I was trying to point out that making her 18 removes that very real road-block, rather than you needing to try to squeeze by it without getting caught.
As for the photos, they looked good (other than the night ones, my screen always shows such heavily shadowed photos as nearly entirely black). Some of the bugs with looking at something and not getting the picture, as you said are part of the engine, so not really much else to say there.
As for hard/easy, the difficulty, as often is the case in these games, is in guessing proper wording. It can be a bit awkward to sometimes need to talk, tell, or ask about a subject and have 2 out of the 3 fail. I find it's much better to only have 1 of the 3 used in the game at all (or have all 3 as equivalent). While I understand the difference between the 3, with any topic it's still all in the phrasing, and there is no way for us to guess how you choose to phrase it. Needing to also guess the correct game command with the following phrasing can make for a lot of possible failed combinations. (To try to give an example... Parents fighting again, I should get Emily out of the house, go get a burger
Well, maybe the author is going to have me say:
When Mom and Dad fight sometimes I just want to get out of the house. Em: Yeah, me too. Me: Let's get out of here and go out to eat.
or
Hey Em, would you like to get out of here and go get a burger?
or
I think I'm going to get out of the house for a while. Maybe go grab some food. Em: Sounds like a good plan. Can I come?
talk to emily about burger
...
ask emily about burer
...
tell emily about burger
...
talk to emily about leaving
ask leaving
tell leaving
talk, ask, tell food
turns out ask and burger was right, although I happened to mispell the word that time and hadn't noticed, but because I had so many options to try, I didn't concentrate, or missed, that possibility (although it could have just as easily been that was food that was correct). Regardless, any of the first 3 comments are all realistic. One it makes sense to talk to her about, one ask, and one tell. The thing is, only 1 of those 3 possibilities is coded into the game, and I have no way of knowing which other than to try them all. It may make less sense to Tell Emily a question, but it makes it much less frustrating if I'm only trying to guess which topics I can discuss, rather than also guess which command goes with that topic.
