I've been playing 'A Halloween Tail'....and Adrift 3.9 AIF game. It seems pretty good so far. The writing is excellent and the puzzles are harder than average....in fact, that's why I'm posting. I'm stuck and I can't find a walk though anywhere.

So doesn't anyone know of a walk through, or has anyone played it enough to give me some tips?

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a walkthrough. I'd advise looking on either aifgames.com or the aifarchive Yahoo group for discussion regarding the game's puzzles. Or, if you have some specific problem, I will do my best to assist.

I've been checking around on the usual AIF sites and I haven't seen a walkthrough or even anyone else who seems to be stuck in the same place that I am.

So here's where I am, any help would be appreciated...

I have collected all 5 candles and have placed them on the circle. I can't perform the ritual though, it says I don't have everything required. I guess that I'm missing the gift. I thought maybe the anal plug was the gift but I guess not. I have the matchbook and I tried to light the candles, but that wasn't working.
But before getting to that scene, I haven't been able to trigger the sex scene with either Sam or Willow. I've given Willow the pack of smokes and she's in a better mood. I read somewhere that a clue to what she needs, is on the internet and I assume that was the hint about the empty beer bottle. I've tried asking about and giving her the empty bottle but that doesn't work. I have the dirty panties...not sure if they serve a purpose. I have the letter. I have the Demonomicon, I have the Poe book.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple...but I can't figure it out.

There's a specific command to start the ritual, something like "Perform the something or other ritual". If you read the book it should be in italics. For Willow, after giving her the cigarettes you need to find the roommate's gay porn magazine and give that to her.

IIRC, the panties were a red herring.

Sam was just a matter of asking the right question(s) and following the text hints in the responses. Hers wasn't a full on sex scene, btw, so if you have managed to do some stuff with her, then you probably did everything you could.
I thought a lot of this was discussed in the yahoo aifarchive group forum. Not a walkthough, but a message board discussion.

Thanks M, that is an object I haven't found yet...although I thought I searched that area fully...and it kept telling me that I didn't want to keep doing that.

As for the ritual, I'm pretty sure I typed the command just as it appeared in the book, but it's telling me that I don't have everything required...so I assume I'm missing the gift. Is it not the anal plug?

I thought that was correct, but it's been a while since I played AHT. I remember thinking it was possible that more than 1 item would trigger the end.

I cannot for the life of me find the battery for the damned camping lamp in this game. I found a tip on Yahoo that I should be looking under things, but I've looked under everything.

I assume it's supposed to be under Darren's bed, since the description explicitly mentions that there could be something under there, but there's nothing to be found. Anyone want to toss me a bone?

You put the candles ON the circle, not IN the circle. That was my mistake, at least.

I did eventually figure out what I was missing or doing wrong. As always, it was something simple and I just overlooked it.

But I do still have (at least) one thing I'm missing....

Well then...

So where did you find the lube then?

The magazine is in the roommate's bedroom, you just have to 'search the junk' or something like that. Maybe search the bed or the dresser.
