Hey just a suggestion. Don't mean to butt in. You can setup a macro that can check each room, then just enter a 'wait' command to advance each hour. Once you do trip something, you can go through it by either scrolling up or use the 'undo' to get to the previous room. Just set up the macro so it brings you back to the same room. This is only a suggestion. It worked for me and allowed the story to progress. This does require some thinking through and understanding of basic coding. If you are not up to it, I understand. Just thought this would make things a little easier for you.

P.S. There is a post on Seztworks.com under tips and tricks that mentions what rooms you need to check to progress. Only a third of the rooms are active event trigger points.
