Hey all, first time posting..long time lurking. I came across this site somehow awhiles back and ended up playing SD3. Needless to say I was impressed. Out of sheer boredom one day I started poking my nose around the diff ways to create your own AIF and downloaded I7 since I have absolutely zero understanding of programming and it seemed the most simple. I have been working little by little on a game in the ilk of goblinboys stuff ( Little did I know what a HUGE pain in the butt it is) I am still a ways off from finishing it but when It is close I will post on here. Anyway the point of this post is just to say this SD3 rules and inspired me to make a (probably crappy) game.

I don't know how far through you are, but you might want to look at the Inform 7 handbook. There's also an AIF Extension for I7 written by Dudeman (available at the aifarchive Yahoo group), assuming the latest I update hasn't broken it. If you have any specific programming questions, you might want to try aifgames.com, as a few I7 gurus hang out there.

Best of luck with your project. Are you planning on entering it in the Minicomp?

I would say I am roughly at the halfway point. I did indeed use some of the parts from the aif extension by dudeman and found it to be quite a help. I sometimes find myself running into unforeseen snags and the good people on the aif yahoo board along with some other i7 boards always are quick to help and get things on track. As for the minicomp to be honest I dont really know anything about it, I also have no clue as to when this monster is going to finally be finished. I will look into it though.

Kewl beans

You can find the rules for the AIF minicomp here. Basically the idea behind it is to try to help first time authors by limiting the games to a certain size. I know the couple of times I've tried to write something, I've always ended up with an idea that was way too big to complete.

But if you've got an idea you're enthusiastic about I think you should stick with that, especially if you're already halfway through.

All Goblinboy has said is that he is currently working on GoP3, and possibly a minicomp game as well if memory serves. He's not mentioned anything about the plot, but since GoP2 (Key To Eternity) ended on a cliffhanger I would assume it resolves that in some way.

Assuming that you mean Camping Trip, the last time he mentioned it was in this post on aifarchive in March 2010:

"I suppose I'm working on 3 things right now...

"1) An all new game. This was supposed to be small, with just a few graphics at key points. It has morphed into a somewhat huge thing with hundreds of pictures. It *is* however, actually nearing completion...

I feel the same! I gave a try on one of GOP games, and if I remember well, the main character was a female. I don't like games like that (even if it was made by Goblinboy)so I never finished it.
But I'm fooling myself and keep hoping for School Dreams-4.

GoP2 actually switches between a female (played by Alison Angel) and a male protagonist. It was also (I think) only the third game that Goblinboy released, which is kind of scary.

If you're really craving some School Dreams action, someone (not Goblinboy) has been writing a School Dreams fanfic. I think it's mentioned somewhere previously in this thread.

Based on what Goblinboy has said, I'm afraid that's probably as close as we'll ever get to School Dreams 4.

That's actually a shame too. After 3 games now the characters start to grow on you. Plus I was really looking forward to seeing Becky's sister, since the game hinted towards that. Could round out a story with like 5 or so endings, one with each of the girls or something bout being alone or some kinda harem deal and just maybe make "hook ups" possible with some of those characters you wished you could get like Becky's mom or Miss Holloway.
