I downloaded the patch it is a RAR file. What do I do with this. What do I need to open RAR files.

Files ending in .rar usually are compressed archives (as this one is). To uncompress these archives, you can use the software winrar which is not free, but you can get an evaluation copy from http://www.winrar.de Of course there is other software as well that can decompress rar format files, and I am sure some friendly lagooners could help and point to other products as well.

When decompressing this archive with winrar, it will ask you where to put the decompressed content of the archive. Choose a temporary folder somewhere, e.g. C:/Temp. Then the decompress process will put all the files and folders from within this archive into that temporary folder. Now close winrar and move or copy the extracted files from the temporary folder to their final destination.

Hi, rosutton, you can find toolswhich can decompress rar-files in the internet. The most of them are freeware, generally you cannot create a rar-file with them, but nearly all of them can extract (decompress the rar files) Look out for example with Google to "7-zip"

For extracting rar-files, I use "free RAR-Extract Frog", which I found by google. Works fine!

Looks like I was too late with this report. pic55c and pic55d.html have Mare Tranquilitatis and I changed for myself to read .... Sea of Tranquility

Also for the doorbell the best I could do was to add it in startDate.html right before ....

EDITED by me .... Do NOT make this modifaction as it will not let you run the 17 up version it goes to the regular 5.8 version no matter what you select !!!!

Yes, Stan001, you are right: she asks for the Sea of Tranquility, and you answer her with Mare Tranquilitatis. This way you have learned some Latin as well -- en passant

So from this day on, you can declare the Ariane game as "educational software" and deduce it from your tax

OK .. I also NEED TO POST .... DO NOT make the modification I posted for the doorbell. After futher testing it goes to version 5.8 no matter what you have selected. You can not get to the 17 up version if you add the line I posted about the doorbell where I say to put it. So disregard and maybe someone else can find the right way to do it so it don't mess up the game.

Thank you for the warning, Stan001. So you see: it is easy to get just some sound somehow, but to get it safe, at the right time, portable between browsers, and without side effects like the one you describe -- this is a much more difficult task which I did not solve yet.

And to be true: this is not very high on our priority list, as introducing sound is a very big change to the game.

Now if we would start with introducing sound, this means a lot of speaking, female moaning (mermaids welcome ), background sounds and music has to be produced and post-produced and allocated to the scenes. not to mention the copyright issues. So, we don't plan to open this can of worms now. The doorbell was just a joke for the beginning.

Thank you anyways for your effort. If you manage to find a way to let the doorbell ring without unpleasant side effects, at least for Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari, let me know, and we might just add this to a future release. But for the doorbell only.

document.getElementById("bell").innerHTML="";
(where id "bell" is an empty span, table, div, etc.)


replace with:

Hi, muppet787, in UP 17 there is no option to get this scene, when Rebecca takes off her shirt. But we will add this option in the next following release.
