I'm impressed this is the first VN Ive played so far, very good story line, art work and Marcella looks great a little chubby but a nice change of pace from all those slim girls !
So far got 4 endings, the first ending I crashed the car so that thought me a lesson

This is the most recent version from November 2012. There are 8 endings; you can end up with one of three ladies (or none).

There are two game-play videos of Arnie and the Hitchhiker. These are from the PG13 version (the adult version is better). Please note that while I made the game, I didn't make the videos. I think they're funny.

Please note that the endings in the adult version are VERY different from the endings shown in the videos.

Link to the adult version of the visual novel is in the first post of this topic. The adult version has more endings than the PG version, plus nudity and animated cut scenes, some of the artwork is also different.

Hello, thank you for the kind words. I'm working on a new game now. I hope to have it ready within a few months.

Microsoft is the developer of the D3DX9_37.dll file.
You can download the installer for DX9 for free from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109
By downloading it directly from Microsoft, it will be installed in the system directory of your computer, where other games that need it can find it. The name of the Windows system folder is based on what version of Windows the computer is running.
I believe that you must install the entire DirectX 9 package for my VNs to work. The Microsoft installer linked above does that. I guess DirectX11 is not backwards compatible.

I'm sorry you were having trouble.
The fmodex.dll file is in the zipped file.
After you unzip the zipped file (arnie-and-the-hitchhiker.zip) you should see the following:
a folder named Assets (this folder contains wmv files)
a file named Arnie-and-the-hitchhiker.exe (this is the file you click on to run the game)
a file named fmodex.dll
a file named read me.txt
a file named screen1b.jpg
a file named screen2b.jpg

I just rechecked the download link in the first post, downloaded the zip file, unzipped it, and all of the files are there.
Someone unknown to me unzipped the game, deleted at least one of the files, re-compressed them using rar, and uploaded the visual novel to several file sharing sites (violation of the terms of use). I issued take down notices to those sites when I learned about this.
You may have gotten one of those unauthorized rar versions of the game, or the zip file might not have fully downloaded. Try downloading again from the link in the first post.

What version of Windows are you using? This visual novel has been tested with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I upgraded to win 10, so after downloading again the game I'll let you know if there are issues with it.
So far everything is working fine, I just have some problems with Skype, and just had a couple of automatic restarts. (that almost killed me, first time! New screen color when charging and asking you to log in is blue... I saw in the distance a blue screen and reminded old times, when a blue screen meant troubles!)

Edit: I could download it again by myself, I'm really getting old if I didn't think about a missing file from the .zip file

I played it already a couple of times and everything is fine. No problems!
