BUG Reports for UP17
Big thanks to coder, coyboyblob and ludwig for reporting bugs of the new UP17 here. Below you find our comments to these reports. The fixes are collected in UP17 Patch 1 . Download the patch and replace the old files by the corresponding new files in your UP17 installation (just overwrite).

For future bug reports: The best way to communicate bug reports (which will ensure the shortest time to get a fix) has been explained by Arnulf and summarized by coder in this post . Please also add to the bug report the version you have chosen from the startup screen.

1. I found a small bug on the first page. On linux the filesystem is case sensitive. For some images the files were said to be in the directory Images instead of images.

RE: 1 Fixed (startDate.html).

2. And another one. If I switch to full screen (I have a widescreen) the text is centered in the middle of the screen, which is somewhere on the right side of the picture.

RE: 2 Fixed (default.htm). 11: Though shalt not switch the second window to full screen!

3. Since I'm bughunting. When on the beach after the three questions where I choose actions instead of talking and I click "I'd rather pursue you." the text shows "undefined" scene 94. There are a few other paths there leading to a same result.

RE: 3 Scene 94 fixed (resp94m.htm). For other occurrences of "undefined" in the text, please cut-and-paste the savestring to your bug report. Most of the times, the choice of a response depends on the settings of some variables. So if you add the savestring to the report, it allows me to exactly track the error and get it fixed.

4. The problem with the undefined scenes was in the game in the earlier versions, btw. Since I did a little cheating then (changing some variables) I never reported it before.

RE: 4 Don't hesitate to report the errors. If I find out that the errors have been introduced by your own hacks on the code, be sure that I will find the right words

5. Afterwards (when we had sex on the beach) and I go to the kitchen, she wants to go to the park and do a photoshoot, again and again. When we go swimming, it changes.

6. ... lots of broken photo links in the dress shop (got the white dress right away). Broken photo link right away in the art store. The "Go Back Home/Stay in town" photo link was broken too, so I couldn't stay in town. More as I play....

RE: 6 I can not reproduce these errors. On my installation all photo links from the art store point to the correct file, and alle image files are present. In the dress shop, any combination is found and displayed correctly. Please check your image files. For this scene to always display the correct dress, you should find in your "images/" folder the following files: dressingbooth1.jpg dressingbooth1a.jpg dressshop1.jpg dressskirt0.jpg dressskirt0a.jpg dressskirt1.jpg dressskirt1c.jpg dressskirt2.jpg dressskirt2c.jpg dressskirt3.jpg dressskirt4.jpgdressskirt5.jpg dressskirt5c.jpg dressskirt6.jpg dresstop0.jpg dresstop1.jpg dresstop1c.jpg dresstop2.jpg dresstop2c.jpg dresstop3.jpg dresstop4.jpg dresstop5.jpg dresstop5c.jpg dresstop6.jpg
You might also want to have a look into the file pic80a.htm and see if the file does not show some weird characters. The paths to file names should look like tops[0] = 'images/dresstop0.jpg'; If you still encounter this error, write me a PM and we should be able to work this out.

7. After sex at the beach and and going back to the kitchen, she keep suggesting a photo shoot at the park, even after we've already done that.

RE: 7 I do not consider this as an error, but just as a possibility to repeat a certain scene. See item 5. above!

8. After trying for the crazy night twice and kept getting the the not-white dress combo, I went lingerie shopping, took reba back for skinny dipping, and after a dance in the living room, and and abortive make-out session in the hot tub (didn't play T or D), Ariane was back in her bikini bottoms. After suggesting in the kitchen we go back downtown, Ariane was back in her jeans and red shirt.

RE: 8 Fixed.

9. I never heard the doorbell.

RE: 9 Right. After several attempts to get sound with Javascrïpt in a portable way, I (momentarily) gave up this feature --- to avoid people sending in bug reports and telling me "I cannot hear the bell" So if you want to hear the bell ringing, double-click on the file "images/2-Klang-Gong_1.wav" which mistakenly has remained in the distribution And if you have an idea how to get the sound clean and proper into the game, drop me a note.

10. Tried to get her in the bare-assed but red shirt state at home but never got below the waist making out on the couch, so I made out for a bit then "went elsewhere." When she suggested a drive in the kitchen, I went for it, but when I made a left past the strip club (she was in casual attire at the time), we ended up at the lake shore and she was magically transformed into her black dress.

RE: 10 Fixed.

11. So then we did the "crazy night" at the left turn at the lake, bought the white dress, bought the wedding dress pic, but since the pic link was broken, the only link active was "return home." When we did, she was standing in the map in her panties.

12. So we went to the kitchen, spun the bottle, then went to the park in a towel for a nude photoshoot. After that we came home, went for a drive, but when I made the turn left, there was no option for the strip club, just straight for the lake.

RE: 12 When you go downtown in the black dress and you reach the intersection1 (with the gas station), you only can go to town or outskirts directly to the beach. This is normal and no bug.

13. Did the "crazy night" talk again, this time bought the white dress and pic with NO BROKEN links.

RE: 13 ??? Does this mean that you do not have broken links anymore? Or just sometimes?

14. I could not get it to run correctly, at the first screen the link to the doorbell is broken. It's a shame that i'm not a good debugger, i didn't find out why. I run it on a linux: opensuse11 with firefox and/or konqueror

Too bad you haven't been able to fix the fullscreen bug. I haven't really played it yet, because of that. Well I'll look into it myself and see if I can create a fix for it.

Hi coder, what do you mean exactly by fullscreen-bug? I think have fixed (and successfully tested) what you reported (see No. 2 on my bugfix report above). Did I miss something?

And since it didn't work correctly (see the picture), I presumed my interpretation correct.

Right. This should have been fixed by one line in default.htm. There it says now:

Did you test the patch? Does it work correctly now?

And my sentence about not using this feature was not transmitted entirely correct here. The correct citation is:

And the smileys are significant for the interpretation of this piece of frozen language
