This game is awesome, and I've played the text_only version quite a bit, but now I can't get the version with images to open up. I can download it no problem, but then when I try to unRar it I get an error message that it can't complete the process.

I'm using an intel Mac with Leopard and any help would be very much appreciated.

As mentioned above, neither of the released Mac interpreters for TADS (Spatterlight and FrobTADS) can currently handle graphics, although CocoaTADS is apparently pre-beta for Mac OS X.

Not sure about the unRAR problem though. I've just tried downloading from the link given on the first page and I didn't have any trouble extracting the file (using 7-zip).

Re Charlotte, there are actually a number of different results you can get depending on how many of her questions you get right, ranging all the way from her flashing her breasts to offering you anal sex.

To the best of my knowledge no. There are programs that will decompile TADS files into a somewhat usable form, but they don't extract image or sound files.

There is a way, but it requires writing your own program to do it (if you happen to be a programmer, hint, you're looking for JPEG headers). I have succesfully done it before, but out of respect for the author I will not post the images or the program use to extract them (but if you wanna know if you saw most of it: there are 712 images in the game, about 3/4 is 3D artwork).

That said, play the game. I did, and after I figured out how to extract the images it turned out I missed only a few pictures from some daydreams (and most of the 'real' pictures, but you can find stuff like that one the internet anyway).

In traditional AIF I haven't found any games remotely like it in terms of the amount of images (or gameplay, for that matter).

But if you like the text adventure with images style you might be interested in games created with the RAGS engine (which you could say is some sort of hybrid between text adventure and point & click). To my knowledge there are two forums where RAGS games get actively posted, but sadly they both focus on a 'niche' market (and they probably require registration to view/download things):

Sadly RAGS hasn't had a huge amount of popularity outside of those two aforementioned sites. RAGS has a lot of promise for general adult games, given that it's graphics-oriented and reasonably easy to learn (although you do have to pay for it). Perhaps any budding games creators reading this might want to give it a go?

You'll have to register to browse the Hypnopics forums, although some of the games originating there are mirrored in other places (such as aifgames.com or the AIFArchive). You can browse TFGames without registering, but you will have to register to download anything.

As mentioned, most of the games on those two sites tend to be either buggy or incomplete (or both), but I'd recommend Rough Landing 1 (just about the only complete game on Hypnopics I can think of, and quite good too; the sequel is currently in open alpha) and Bodywerks (incomplete, but excellent production values if you don't mind the author's taste in fetishes).

While there aren't any AIF games that rival SD3 in terms of graphics or size (it did take two years to create after all), there are a few that I'd say are as good or better in other areas. Sex Artist and Tomorrow Never Comes are two that spring immediately to mind, but there are others. Take a look at the Inside Erin newsletter (http://newsletter.aifcommunity.org/) if you're looking for suggestions for what to try, as it has an index of reviews.
