Installing a piece of software (GUI or not) on your OS has nothing to do with thinking. Merely computer ages behavioral physiology.

I interpret by your observations that you think I am a neophyte. My work is to use computers and high-end software where I am frequently Beta tester. Nothing to do with games, which are just a hobby for me.
We also design software in Visual Fortran and Visual Basic, for solution of mathematical and topological data, and they run in the virtual DOS of the Command Prompt Window. As we are not stupid, so the programs are wrote in terms to reduce the strict command lines needs. No need to write graphical interface - as not intended for external users.
...
I have a superb ergonomic keyboard where I use both hands and ten fingers. Thanks for your preoccupation about my health!
So please stop with offensive observations.
...
By the way Java Based DOSBox Game Launcher, upon D-Fend open code.

works for Windows, Linux and Mac.
I never used it till now.
...
It is quite easy to write in English , take the time to think before too, and give something! This is the sense of a Forum, quite different of a Blog.

almeida67. You're offended quite easily. I can't help that. It's never been my intention.

This forum can be used for psychological studies.
I assert that as soon as you mention DOS in a forum there is a 48% chance of a GUI vs. command line flame war and a 32% chance of a heated O/S discussion ;-)

I like you all, it's always funny here.

Wouldn't this be something for "The Beach"? Religious wars à la
[*]Unix vs. Windows
[*]Keyboard vs. Mouse
[*]vi vs. emacs (the older hackers might remember)
[*]edlin vs. wordstar (heheee :))
[*] ...
As long as everyone respects the other person in the discussion, these games can get very funny

Really I think that DOSBox is quite complicated to use.
Now how can someone who plays games consider complicated when the commands are:
1.- At the end of installation, MOUNT C C:OLDGAMES, assuming the dos games are in a general folder named OLDGAMES in any of your hard disk drives. It's a one time command not necessary anymore.
2.- For playing a game all you need (from Windows XP) is to doubleclick the dosbox icon and when prompted issue two commands:
CD intgirls, assuming that there is a game in the sub-folder INTGIRLS
start.bat, assuming that START.BAT is the name of the executable that lets you play the game.

I like shark's games, otherwise I wouldn't be a member of this forum. But I put just a question: isn't it much more complicated finding certain spots in his games than issuing those commands?

For better and even easier use of dosbox, check this link: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_ ... _of_DosBox

If you have a bunch of DOS games (and/or applications) you may also consider building a .bat file with a menu so avoiding the two commands for playing.

Please don't get offended when people don't agree with you!

Peace!

Hey guys, I just created a new thread on The Beach to continue our discussion (it does not really fit into this thread anymore, and we want to be good lagooners, don't we ;)

Mount was the problem for me. It never took, and had to be redone every time I started DOSBox. After not using DOSBox for six months, I would have to research how to get it running again. Pain in the ass.

I read that thread first, nothing made any sense. Now it does, how about a disclaimer in your thread that: "This is a continuation of the DOS W95 OLD GAMES thread in "All Sexy Games".

Which version of dosbox are you using?

Lord I don't know. It's been years, and two computers ago that I even tried. But I'll have to correct that now that you people are providing such good info.

I have a couple of old Hentai games on a cd that I got at a rummage sale in April that I'd like to play.

If it's an old version I can't be of any help. I've got the last version, 0.7.3 if my memory doesn't betray me, and it works perfectly on XP. They claim that it works on Vista, but as I don't want Vista at least in the next 4/5 years, I don't know about its behaviour.

Anyway you can uninstall the version you have installed and follow Almeida67 directions about DFend, or alternatively, go to http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1 to download the last version of dosbox and install it, following the instructions in the tutorial in http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_ ... _of_DosBox

Cheers!
