Dose anyone know how to put an object under an object in adrift as its not something? You can do with the default configuration you can only put objects in other objects.

Don't know Adrift 5 specifically, but in 3.9 and/or 4.0, underneath item would be in "hidden" room until "covering" item was manipulated in some way by an action (command) or event.

If you had asked the question related to TADS, I could totally help you... but alas, I have never found Adrift to function the way I want it to. With that said, you might check to see if it's just a matter of changing the verb that it responds to?

Have only worked with ADRIFT 3.9 and 4, but there you would usually start with the hidden item listed nowhere, and make a custom action that is "look under X" that places the hidden item in scope. Hope that helps
