CGArena - Dedicated Software/Modelling Advice?

I'm playing, and I mean 'playing' with 3DSMax.
In a search for a solution, more precisely a tutorial, I stumbled upon a site which is not currently referenced on our shores.
This is a serious community dedicated to "Computer Graphics".
CGArena
The link above is the front page but my search lead me directly to the Forum.
I haven't checked but I think this is based in India. Maybe that accounts for a slow connection but then, I have a download from the site which could be the reason.
Here I see issues relating to different software, tutorials, discussions about lighting and rendering, ... sorry I was out of my depth, but this certainly seems to be a good source of information.
Please add your impressions, joys or shortcomings of that location.
Then too, if a forum question arises, and you've seen a solution there, please share it.
